Seven in a Row for Pipe Band

Scottish Champions every year since 2000

Glenalmond was not seen at its best on the Sunday of the Scottish Schools CCF Pipes and Drums competition. Mists and rain shrouded the splendid, dramatic building. The competition was forced indoors, and different challenges were offered.

Nevertheless, Dollar’s excellent Pipe Band rose to that challenge, and in a competition of high quality, the Dollar A band retained the Independent Schools cup once again. The young Dollar B band acquitted itself handsomely in this difficult context, and showed real promise for the future.

Numerous individuals met with success in addition: Callum Martin (2nd in the Drum Majors’ Cadre), Lewis Vanstone (2nd in Intermediate Drumming), Louise Carson (1st) and Ruth Clark (2nd) in Junior Drumming, Sean Sarafilovic (1st) and Ross Hammond (3rd) in Intermediate Piping, Robbie Jones (3rd in Junior Piping), and Dollar took first place in the Bass and Tenor Drum competition, where Katie Simpson collected the trophy.

Once again, the tremendous work of Mr Craig Stewart and Mr David Methven along with the drumming instructors created the basis for this success. The combined Dollar bands, despite the rain, marched through Dollar on their return on Sunday evening, and put on a spectacular impromptu performance in front of the Playfair Building. Again, the Dollar Academy Pipe Bands will be well worth hearing at Sports Weekend.
